This specimen was photographed during a night dive while standing motionless. It would have been more difficult during the day. The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific from Africa to Japan and Australia (but not in the Red Sea or the Arabian Gulf) widely around coral reefs to a maximum depth of 60 m. Pterocaesio tile grows up to a max. length of 30 cm, the common length is 20 cm. Juveniles occasionally appear in large numbers in shallow lagoons and on reef flats. This species feeds on zooplankton in midwater aggregations and is a typical Tuna baitfish. Palau, 7°4'54.456 N 134°15'43.506 E at 12m depth

Schools of Slender Pinjalo Pinjalo lewisi and Yellowmask Surgeonfishes Acanthurus mata: \n\nPinjalo lewisi often form schools and inhabits reefs and rocky bottoms. The species feeds on benthic and planktonic invertebrates and possibly on small fishes. Pinjalo lewisi occurs from Laccadive Islands to Fiji, north to the Ryukyu Islands usually in a depth range from 20-150m. On this remote location near the open ocean in unusually shallow less than 10m depth.  \n\nAdult Acanthurus mata inhabit steep slopes, often in turbid waters, generally in the vicinity of coral reefs or rocky bottoms like these specimen. They form resident spawning aggregations. Adults are often seen in schools, feeding mid-water on plankton. Max. 50 cm, depth range 5-100m. \n\nDramai Rock, Westpapua, Indonesia \n4°2'33.036 S 134°14'12.858 E at 7m depth

Moontail bullseye or Crescent-Tailed Bullseye Priacanthus hamrur occurs in the Red Sea and southern Africa to French Polynesia, north to southern Japan, south to Australia. It is an uncommon species found in outer reef slopes and deep lagoon pinnacles from 8 to at least 80 m. In small aggregations, sometimes schools in oceanic locations, also found under ledges or hovering next to coral heads during day. Feeds on small fish, crustaceans, and other small invertebrates. Palau, 7°20'7.6992 N 134°27'35.3664 E at 17m depth
