There are a number of different tribes found in this village like the Karen, Palong and Hmong tribes. The Karen-Paduang Long Neck tribe are a Tibetan-Burmese ethnic group who are originally from Myanmar/Burma and not native to Thailand. These are refugees from Myanmar escaping persecution. While enduring hardships and having limited rights as refugees, these people are happy, gracious, beautifully decorated with an understated elegance. Many sell souvenirs and/or handicrafts as a source of income. Photographed in May 2014.
