Crocodile Fish Cymbacephalus beauforti occurs in the tropical West Pacific in shallow waters from 1-12 m. The species, an ambush predator, lives on sand or rubble substrates of sheltered or semi-exposed reefs and is also found in coral reefs and mangrove areas. \nThe cirri (= leafy appendages above the eyes) break up the outline of the eye, so its much harder for their prey to spot them. Somehow looking a bit like a crocodile, this species is much smaller, the maximum length is 50 cm, but the common length is 35 cm. The Red Sea is home to a diverse and vibrant marine ecosystem, and one of its fascinating residents is the scorpion fish. Known for their camouflaged appearance, scorpion fish blend seamlessly with the rocky reefs and sandy seabeds, making them difficult to spot unless you know where to look. Their spiny fins and venomous spines are a defense mechanism against predators, making them a formidable species in the underwater world.\n\nScorpion fish are typically found in shallow waters but can also be seen in deeper zones around coral reefs. Their striking colors, ranging from browns to reds, help them blend into their surroundings, offering protection while they hunt for prey such as smaller fish and crustaceans. They rely on their stealth and excellent vision to ambush unsuspecting prey, waiting motionless until an opportunity arises.\n\nDivers exploring the Red Sea may encounter scorpion fish while exploring popular sites like Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada. Despite their venomous spines, scorpion fish are not aggressive and will generally avoid human interaction if left undisturbed.\n\nWhile their appearance might seem intimidating, scorpion fish are an integral part of the Red Sea's ecosystem. Their presence highlights the region's diverse marine life, making it a unique and exciting destination for underwater enthusiasts. However, divers should be cautious and avoid touching or disturbing them to prevent the risk of a painful sting.

The Scorpionfish, a predator, uses the camouflage as a hunting skill. Tasselled Wobbegong Eucrossorhinus dasypogon occurs in Eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia. This ovoviviparous species can reach more than 3.5m length, common length is less than 2m. The tough skin is used sometimes for leather. Tasselled Wobbegong is threatened by extensive coral reef habitat destruction (pollution and dynamite fishing), as well as expanding fisheries. A considerable section of its habitat is protected in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. This specimen lies at the sandy bottom in an outer reef east of Kri Island. This shark species is primarily nocturnal. It\
