Giant grouper fish
Close-up of fish swimming in water - Atlantic goliath grouper
Adults of Napoleon Wrasse Cheilinus undulatus develop thick lips and a prominent bulbous hump on the forehead and can grow up to more than 2.2 meters. The species inhabits steep outer reef slopes, channel slopes and lagoon reefs. Primary food are mollusks, fishes, sea urchins, crustaceans and other invertebrates. Napoleon Wrasse is one of the few predators of toxic animals such as sea hares, boxfishes and crown-of-thorns starfish. Napoleon Wrasse is is seriously endangered, being hunted to the brink of extinction to feed a growing demand among wealthy Chinese diners for luxury live fish. Not wise, so crown-of-thorns starfishes take over and destroy the reefs. Palau, Micronesia, 7°8'0.39 N 134°13'12.99 E at 15m depth

Humphead maori wrasse is a napoleon fish found at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
Foursaddle Grouper Epinephelus spilotoceps occurs in the tropical Indo-West-Pacific from East coast of Africa to the Line Islands. Except for its occurrence along the African coast (Zanzibar, Tanzania to Ponta Zavora, Mozambique) it seems to be primarily an insular species, occurring at most (probably all) of the islands of tropical Indian and west-central Pacific in a depth range from 0 to 30m, max. length 47cm. \n\nUsually species have a more ore less specific behaviour. Groupers are shy and have a long escape distance. This specimen was unusually curious and followed the photographer attentively for quite a while.\n\nTriton Bay, Indonesia \n3°54'2.346 S 134°6'32.099 E at 12m depth

Golden Damsel Amblyglyphidodon aureus occurs in the tropical Western Pacific from Andaman Sea and Christmas Island in the Eastern Indian Ocean to Fiji, north to the Ryukyu Islands, south to Rowly Shoals and New Caledonia in a depth range from 3-45m, max. length 13cm.\nJuveniles in small groups are often found among large sea fans. Adults occur in steep outer reef, occasionally in deep lagoons and along channel walls, usually in current prone habitats and where there are abundant gorgonian and long sea-whip corals on which they lay and guard eggs. The species feeds on zooplankton. \nMost of the time, a fish's behavior depends on its species. From time to time it is possible to meet exceptions, like this specimen, a very curious character, not shy at all, who kept looking at the camera.\nTriton Bay, Indonesia, 3°54'52.0617 S 134°7'21.3867 E at 9m depth

Bald-spot Monocle Bream Scolopsis temporalis occurs in the tropical Western Pacific from Eastern Indonesia to the Solomon Islands, Santa Cruz Islands and Fiji in a depth range from shallow to 35m, max. length 35cm, common length 20cm. \nThis species closely resembles Scolopsis monogramma, and the two species have been previously confused. The bald spot behind the eye is distinctive and leads to the common name of the species. \nLembeh Strait, Indonesia\n1°27'34.8356 N 125°13'17.0467 E at 17m depth
