The Salt River near Phoenix ambles through beautiful high desert country.
The Salt River runs from eastern Arizona and joins the Gila River west of Phoenix.  It is used to maintain many reservoirs in the mountains east of Phoenix, the largest being The Theodore Roosevelt Reservoir.  These reservoirs provide water to the Phoenix area as well as creating excellent recreational opportunities.

Arch Canyon is a picturesque location located along the Ajo Mountain Drive in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona, near the border with Mexico. The Ajo Mountain Drive is a scenic loop road that offers visitors the opportunity to explore the diverse landscapes and natural features of the desert.  Arch Canyon is named for the natural arch formation that can be found within the canyon. The arch itself is a stunning geological feature created by erosion over thousands of years. It is composed of ancient volcanic rock and stands as a testament to the forces of nature that have shaped the landscape of the region.  Arch Canyon and the Arch Canyon Trail are in the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument south of Ajo, Arizona, USA.
