$The Yew Tree is an evergreen Tree or Bush to 20m with a wide spreading crown. Bark reddish-brown, flaking. Leaves (Needle like) shiny dark green and pointed, in two rows. Flowers green, males with many yellow stamens, females solitary or two together.\nFlowering Season: February-April.\nHabitat: Woods, scrub, hedgerows, mostly on calcareous soils. The Tree/Shrub is much planted in Gardens and Parks.\nDistribution: Europe and N. Africa. Throughout, except the far North.\n\n The not toxic Red Berries are eaten by Birds (Thrushes) and the Plant will so dispersed. All Tree Parts and Seeds are very poisonous, but does the Birds no harm. On the other hand the poisonous alkaloid in Yew is successfully used as treatment of Cancer (slowing the grow Process).$
